Tongariro Northern Circuit

Winding its way over Mt Tongariro and around Mt Ngauruhoe is the Tongariro Northern Circuit in Tongariro National Park, one of the Great Walks of New Zealand. This trek passes through unique and stunning landforms, which include volcanic craters and glacial valleys. A range of trips can be planned around the Tongariro Northern Circuit. Day trips, overnight trips or a three to four day tramp around the complete circuit. Adventure Lodge has free storage for bags while on the Tongariro Northern Circuit.

Short of time?

If you do not have the time to explore both of these National Parks then maybe some of following two to three day packages may suit you.

They have their own Tongariro track shuttle service to the start of the Tongariro Crossing, the Tongariro Northern Circuit and many of the other walks in and around the Tongariro National Park. In winter the mountains provide a huge playground for skiers and snowboarders at New Zealand's largest ski resort, whakapapa on Mt Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park. In summer the area comes alive with hikers for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Tongariro Northern Circuit, around the mountain track and the Mt Ruapehu crater lake and skyline treks.

Many adventure seekers will mountain bike, raft the rivers, rock climb or just walk the many volcanic plateau tracks.
